  • Haif Bannayan

    Haif Bannayan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Jordan Education Initiative Company - a leading public-private partnership programme launched with the Government of Jordan in collaboration with the WEF in 2003. Formerly he served at the Ministry of Information & Communications Technology (MoICT) in the capacity of Secretary General, after having served 13 years in the private sector in several industrial and trade organizations.

  • Dan Buckley

    As winner of the BECTA Secondary Leadership award and the UK National Teacher of the Year award for Innovation and Creativity, Dan Buckley has considerable experience of innovation in learning and teaching. In his current capacity as Director of Research and Development at Cambridge Education he has developed the PbyP (Personalisation by Pieces) framework.

  • Neil Butcher

    Neil Butcher

    Neil Butcher has travelled extensively throughout Africa conducting research on distance education and educational technology for a range of organisations. He is currently working as an OER Strategist with SAIDE on its new OER Africa Initiative, which is funded by the Hewlett Foundation. In the field of IT applications, he is leading the development of South Africa's national education portal for the Department of Education.

  • Dr. José Manuel Canavarro

    Dr. José Manuel Canavarro was formerly Secretary of State for Educational Administration of Portugal (2004-2005). He is now a member of the Portuguese National Council for Education, an invited Professor in several Faculties of Portugal and Spain and consultant to the major Portuguese companies in HRD, Education and Training.

    Dr Thomas Cassidy

    Dr Tom Cassidy was formerly the Director of the International Education Group (IEG) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard Institute for International Development. Currently working primarily as a consultant to such organisations as the World Bank and the World Economic Forum, he continues to chair professional development institutes at both Harvard's Graduate School of Education and the Kennedy School of Government.

    Dr Eduardo Chaves, a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh (1972), has a career that spans academic, government, business, and third sector areas. He was, for 35 years, until his retirement in 2006, Professor of Philosophy and Education at one of Brazil's top universities, the State University of Campinas

    Richard De Lorenzo

    Richard De Lorenzo, an internationally known leader in education reform and organization restructuring, is best known for his uniquely comprehensive "grass roots" approach to the advancement of educational systems. Mr De Lorenzo is also founder of the Re-inventing Schools Coalition (RISC), dedicated to working with stakeholders in challenged educational systems.

  • Bruce Dixon

    Bruce Dixon’s background is as an educator, educational software developer, business and social entrepreneur, and strategic consultant. In 1997, Bruce received an award from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC, for his work worldwide in pioneering ubiquitous access to technology and, in 2006, he was named as one of the '20 People to Watch' by the National School Boards Association of America.

  • Gavin Dykes

    Gavin Dykes has over 20 years of education experience. He researched and produced the Maltese e-Learning Strategy, published in early 2008, and he led delivery and chaired the steering group of Moving Young Minds, an international meeting for ministers of education from 2004-2008.

  • Dr Ulf-Daniel Ehlers

    Dr Ulf-Daniel Ehlers is an Educational Scientist and Associate Professor in the Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He has been professor for Technology Enhanced Learning in the University Augsburg, and Associate Professor of the Graduate School for Management and Technology of the University of Maryland University College. Ulf is an internationally recognized researcher and innovator in the area of E-Learning.

  • Dr Pedro Hepp

    Dr Pedro Hepp is a civil Electrical Engineer (Catholic University of Chile, 1976) and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Edinburgh University, 1983). After being an Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Chile and the Faculty of Engineering (1976- 1993), he became the National Coordinator of the Chilean MoE's Enlaces Program (ICT in Education) between 1990 and 2001. From 1996 to 2001, he was a full Professor and Director of the Instituto de Informática Educativa of the University of La Frontera in Temuco, Chile.

    Dr David Hollow

    Following the completion of his PhD in 2010 (evaluating ICT for education in Africa), David Hollow has been working as an independent consultant. His core expertise is in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation programmes for education initiatives, focusing specifically on partnerships and the use of ICT.

  • Shafika Isaacs

    Shafika Isaacs is an independent consultant on ICTs for development in Africa. She was formerly the Schools Executive at Mindset Network (www.mindset.co.za) and the founding Executive Director of SchoolNet Africa (www.schoolnetafrica.org), an NGO operating in 35 African countries, which promotes learning and teaching through the use of ICTs.

  • Oystein Johannessen

    Oystein Johannessen is the current Chief Strategy Officer, Cerpus, former Deputy Director General of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, and has been working for the Ministry for over 10 years. In 2009, Mr Johannessen was seconded to the OECD Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI).

  • Dr Abdul Khan

    Dr. Abdul Waheed Khan, who currently occupies the position of President of the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Business University and Senior Advisor at the Arab Open University, was formerly Assistant Director General for Communication and Information at UNESCO, Paris from July 2001 to June 2010.

  • Dr Barbara Kurshan

    Dr Barbara Kurshan currently serves as the President of Educorp Consultants Corporation, where she provides strategic consulting in the areas of education, technology and innovation. She is the past Executive Director of Curriki, one of the most innovative and robust global open source education communities.

  • Ernesto Laval

    Dr Ernesto Laval

    Dr. Ernesto Laval has a background in Computer Science and in Education. Ernesto worked for over ten years on the Chilean Program for ICT in primary and secondary school education (Enlaces Network). He was also responsible for the design of the National Programme for ICT in Rural Schools and a Senior Consultant in the design of the Chilean strategy for Literacy and Numeracy.

    Jenny is recognised internationally as a successful principal and system reformer. Jenny has been identified as one of the top one hundred most creative and innovative people in Australia and is co-chair of the International Microsoft Partners in Learning Advisory Board. In her current role as CEO of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders, Jenny has led a number of successful bids.

  • Owen Lynch

    Owen Lynch

    Owen has over 25 years experience in the field of educational technology including being CEO of Becta. Since stepping down from that CEO role Owen has operated as a senior consultant in the educational policy and strategy field to government departments, agencies and international private sector companies.

  • Tim Magner

    Mr. Magner has over 20 years of experience in education and technology in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Mr. Magner served as the Director for the Office of Educational Technology for the U.S. Department of Education, leading the creation of US educational technology policy. He directed The Keystone School an online middle and high school serving over 22000 students worldwide and was the Deputy Executive Director for the Council of Chief State School Officers spearheading state-wide data and technology initiatives.

  • Dr Balint Maygar

    Dr. Bálint Magyar is currently a member of the Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and a senior researcher of the Financial Research Institute Inc. in Budapest. As an appointed Minister of Education and Culture (1996-1998, re-appointed Minister of Education and Science, 2002-2006), he initiated and carried out public and higher education reform processes.

    Richard Moore has 30 years of extensive experience working in the post 16 sector as an educational technologist. He currently runs his own consultancy company MooreAnswers, where his clients include amongst others the Open University, Open College of the Arts (UK), and ictQATAR.

  • Serge Pouts-Lajus

    Serge has over 30 years of experience in the fields of education and ICT for education, both as a mathematics teacher and as Head of Education Software for departments and businesses. He was Director of the Observatory of Technology for Education in Europe where he participated in numerous European R&D projects and task forces including the Task Force Multimedia Education Software for which he was rapporteur and co-author.

  • Dr Tim Unwin

    Dr Tim Unwin is Chair of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UNESCO Chair in ICT4D, Director of the ICT4D Collective and Professor of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. He was previously Head of the Department of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London, and has also served as Honorary Secretary of the Royal Geographical Society.

    Alexander Uvarov is the leading researcher at the Computer Center of the Russian Academy of Science. He has a doctorate in educational philosophy from the Russian Academy of Education, along with practical teaching experience, and he has also conducted research projects.
