Dr. Ernesto Laval has a background in Computer Science and in Education. For all of his professional life he has been involved in projects related to policy making, design and implementation of ICT and education programmes.

Dr. Ernesto Laval has a background in
Computer Science and in Education. For all of his professional life
he has been involved in projects related to policy making, design
and implementation of ICT and education programmes.
Ernesto worked for over ten years on the
Chilean Program for ICT in primary and secondary school
education (Enlaces Network), where he was involved in
organisational, technological and pedagogical design. He was
responsible for the design of the National Programme for
ICT in Rural Schools and a Senior Consultant in the design
of the Chilean strategy for Literacy and Numeracy.
Currently he is involved in educational initiatives with a focus on
poor, low achieving schools and is the CEO of a consultancy company
that designs information systems for data visualisation and
process management, with focus in the educational
sector.
He has a focus on technology that talks
the user's language in simple and direct ways,
particularly in the field of Information Visualisation.
He has a main interest in 'underserved'
markets that have enormous potential needs to be fulfilled, but few
technological solutions that have proved to work and be
appropriated in a sustainable way.
