Dr Pedro Hepp is a civil Electrical Engineer (Catholic University of Chile, 1976) and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Edinburgh University, 1983). Pedro currently heads TIDE (www.tide.cl), a consulting firm and software house.

Pedro Hepp is a civil Electrical Engineer
(Catholic University of Chile, 1976) and holds a Ph.D. in Computer
Science (Edinburgh University, 1983). After being an Associate
Professor at the Catholic University of Chile and the Faculty of
Engineering (1976- 1993), he became the National Coordinator
of the Chilean MoE's Enlaces Program (ICT in Education)
between 1990 and 2001. From 1996 to 2001, he was a full Professor
and Director of the Instituto de Informática Educativa of the
University of La Frontera in Temuco, Chile.
Pedro currently heads TIDE (www.tide.cl),
a consulting firm and software house. He teaches at the University
of La Frontera as a Full Professor and is the Director of several
Foundations related with ICT in Education such as Pais Digital, San
Francisco and AraucaníAprende. Furtheremore, he is a member of
Microsoft's "School of the Future" Board as well as the Director of
the IDB Project "AraucaníAprende" which helps improve Educational
Outcomes in Low-income Primary Schools.
Pedro is a principal researcher of
several CONICYT (Chilean research funding agency) projects on ICT
in education and community networks, software engineering and
education, he also works as a member of consulting teams with the
World Bank for Jamaica, Paraguay, Colombia, Mexico,
Dominican Republic and Vietnam and as a member of the scientific
"Nucleo Milenio" research team at the Catholic University of
Temuco.
