others the Open University, Open College of the Arts (UK), and
ictQATAR.
He is a Trustee for the
Association for Learning Technology and sits on a number of
technology advisory boards including the UK's Learndirect.
Over the years he has sat on a number of national committees for
the UK's Learning and Skills Council.
Between 2002 and 2010 Richard was
CTO and Director of Technology for Learndirect, a UK
organisation that delivers basic skills and level 2 courses to
individuals and businesses. With more than 3 million learners
and 500,000 enrolments annually, Learndirect is the largest public
funded e-learning organisation in the UK. Dick oversaw several
strategic innovations that included automated learner identity
management and validation, high stakes e-assessment for the Home
Office and the introduction of a 360 degree contact centre.
Prior to Learndirect Richard was Director
of Technology in three of Europe's largest Further Education
Colleges, was VP Systems and Operations for a Lehman Brother
dot.com in Los Angeles and ran his own educational technology
start-up that focused on interactive video and training
systems.
