Shafika Isaacs is an independent consultant on ICTs for development in Africa.

Shafika Isaacs is an independent
consultant on ICTs for development in Africa. She
was formerly the Schools Executive at Mindset Network
(www.mindset.co.za) and the founding Executive Director of
SchoolNet Africa (www.schoolnetafrica.org), an NGO
operating in 35 African countries, which promotes learning and
teaching through the use of ICTs. Shafika has worked as a Senior
Programme Officer with the International Development
Research Centre (IDRC)'s Acacia Programme, supporting
development in Africa through the use of ICTs. She was also the
Director of the Trade Union Research Project
(TURP), a labour research organisation where she specialised in
research, worker education and writing popular publications on
globalisation, gender issues and the impact of changing
technologies on the labour market.
Shafika has published a number of papers
on issues relating to ICT and education in Africa, including an
InfoDev Survey on ICTs in Education in Africa and the Monitoring
and Evaluation of the New Partnership for Africa's Development
(NEPAD) eSchools Demonstration Project.
