Workshop on Reading Literacy in a Digital World at WISE 2011

The ability to read, understand and share complex and multimodal texts is a key skill in modern society. Without these basic skills, learners will have great difficulties succeeding in other disciplines. As such, reading literacy is a prerequisite for achieving personal goals, acquiring knowledge and participating in society.

Reading literacy is a prerequisite for achieving personal goals, acquiring knowledge and participating in society. Reading is enabled through printed and digital texts. This session took a closer look at the current state of reading literacy and how this important knowledge can be fostered in a digital world where mobile and handheld applications play an important role for many students.
